TIFFANY SHLAIN 24/6: The Power of Unplugging One Day a Week
Join Internet pioneer and Emmy-nominated filmmaker Tiffany Shlain on a provocative and entertaining journey through the past, present, and future of ideas about time and technology. Recognized by Newsweek as one of the “Women Shaping the 21st Century,” Shlain reveals how going offline one day a week with her husband and two daughters has transformed her family’s life.
Continuing the 9th Annual Saul Cohen-Schoke Jewish Family Service Lecture Series, Shlain will offer lessons learned, as she explores the shifting role of technology in our lives, looking at what it amplifies and what it amputates. Along the way, she examines the neuroscience, philosophy, psychology, and history of a weekly day of rest across cultures, making a case for why we need to bring this ritual back.
