FEDERATION'S 3rd ANNUAL
SOUTHERN CT JEWISH FOOD FESTIVAL
Celebrating Global Traditions – Our Common Table
SUNDAY, MAY 19, 2019
2 – 6 PM
Temple Israel, 14 Coleytown Road, Westport
What a delicious and meaningful day we shared together yesterday at our Federation’s Southern CT Jewish Food Festival, "Celebrating Global Traditions – Our Common Table."
From the keynote conversation between food writers Leah Koenig and Liz Rueven to our diverse exhibit hall; from the Israelis-in-CT Hebrew Book Fest to the authentic Ethiopian buna coffee ceremony... along with cooking demonstrations, breakout sessions, and of course, tasty and authentic kosher Israeli food, this year’s food festival truly had something for everyone.
More than just a celebration of global Jewish culinary traditions, the day was a celebration of our community and of our Jewish values. And I am delighted to report that, with the assistance of our amazing Zero Waste volunteer team from the Congregation for Humanistic Judaism, a full-day festival with hundreds of participants resulted in only a half-bag of trash.
There is plenty of gratitude to offer for this year’s successful festival, but I want to extend particular thanks to:
Our incredible Food Festival Committee, under the dedicated leadership of Elise Meyer
Our hosting partners at Temple Israel, and in particular, their amazing program director, Bryan Bierman
Our dynamic and talented keynote speaker, Leah Koenig, and our skilled keynote conversation facilitator, Liz Rueven
Our Federation staff, and especially our Program Director, Stacy Kamisar, whose creativity and attention to detail were the driving force behind this fantastic event
Our sponsors, who were vital in enabling such a significant undertaking:
VIP Sponsors: Andrée Aelion Brooks, Shari & Harold Levy, Elise Meyer & Henry Feuerstein, Liz & Mony Rueven
Family Sponsors: Rita Appel & Jon Fraade, The Genser Family, Andrea & Dan Gottschall, Jane & Bob Hillman, Stacy & Jonathan Kamisar, Ellen Lautenberg & Douglas Hendel, Jan & Denny Magid, Beth & Jay Rand, Karen & Jamie Sanger, Margery & Peter Verlezza
Our hard-working volunteers
Our community, as it is ultimately your participation that makes all the difference in the world
If you attended yesterday’s festival, thank you. And if you are hungry for more opportunities to gather as a community, please visit our website at shalomct.org or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
