Our gratitude to the Federation staff is immeasurable. Nothing, absolutely nothing, stops them...not even COVID-19. To all our family, friends and supporters of the Gala, we say thank you...thank you...thank you! We look forward to seeing you on June 11th!

Please read the important details below.

Dear Friends,

We wanted to provide you this important and exciting announcement regarding our 2020 Federation Gala, honoring Elise Meyer & Henry Feuerstein and Jane & Bob Hillman.

When we first postponed the Gala (originally scheduled for March 12), it was our hope that we would be able to come together in one place to celebrate Elise, Henry, Jane, and Bob sometime this summer or fall. As the realities of our current environment have set in, we have realized that there is no safe and prudent way for us all to gather.

At the same time, we still have a strong desire (as we are sure you do) to honor Jane, Bob, Elise, and Henry, and they certainly deserve that special night.

With that in mind, we have come up with a really fun plan, endorsed by our honorees, to transition to a virtual online Gala that, as much as possible, maintains the program and spirit that we had planned for March 12.

Please mark your calendars. The new date for our Virtual Gala is Thursday, June 11, beginning at 7 pm; and we're delighted to report that all of the special guests we had lined up for our original gala - Michael Ian Black, Melba Wilson, Shannon Sarna, Tony Perry, and Burgandy Williams - will all be participating.

Of course, we have had to make some important changes, including -

1.  Since our honorees won’t be able to see you in person that evening, we’re asking each of you to send us a very short congratulatory video (no more than 15 seconds) which we’ll edit together into a montage to show at the end of the broadcast.  Please email your video to dweisberg@jewishphilanthropyct.org or text to 717-503-9207.  If you are using your cell phone as your camera, please try to remember to hold your phone sideways (in the landscape mode).  In order to be included, all videos must be received by June 4.

2.  Since it's impossible to feed everyone virtual food, we’ll instead be delivering a package to your front door on or before the day of the gala including Shannon Sarna’s cookbook, special recipe cards from Chef Melba Wilson (her cookbook is completely sold out!), one of Michael Ian Black's books, the gala journal, and another special surprise.

3.  In light of the current crisis, we will be providing a special opportunity that evening for local COVID-19 relief that will include a one-time matching fund.

We’re looking forward to our Virtual Gala on June 11 that, although slightly different than originally planned, will be a fun, meaningful, and, just as importantly, safe tribute to Elise, Henry, Jane, and Bob for their extraordinary contributions to our community. We will send you a link for the Gala in the week leading up to the event. In the meantime, please be sure to mark your calendar (and don’t forget to send your congratulatory video)!

Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email Janet at jwainright@jewishphilanthropyct.org.

Gratefully,
